Sick of forking out for excess baggage charges on budget airlines, one man has invented a new way to carry luggage on board a flight.

Businessman Andrew Gaule has invented the Rufus Roo jacket – which comes with six huge pockets to carry possessions, potentially saving its wearer a fortune.

He told The Daily Mail, “I have lost count of the number of times I saw passengers having to either repack their hand luggage at check in or pay sky-high fees to put it all in the hold.

“The airlines have very strict rules governing how much luggage you are allowed to check-in and carry on board. It is not only expensive, but often the rules are themselves rather difficult to understand.

“This jacket allows you to carry on board everything that you would otherwise have to pack in the hold. The pockets are big and strong enough to take 10kg of luggage, including even laptop computers or bottles of wine,” he added.

Currently, Ryanair charges up to £25 per checked piece of baggage, with the price increasing further if baggage is not pre-booked onto the flight. A recent Co-operative Travel survey revealed that the average family could be forced to fork out an eye-watering £440 checking in baggage onto a Ryanair flight.

Definitely one for savvy travellers rather than the fashion crowd, the Rufus Roo costs £29.95 from www.rufusroo.com and can be picked up in various colours and sizes.
