Passengers living near Robin Hood Airport near Doncaster and Sheffield will soon be able to fly to Wroclaw thanks to a new service by Wizz Air.

The low-cost carrier will be reintroducing the route next summer, adding to its existing Polish connections with Gdansk, Katowice, Poznan, and Warsaw.

Its announcement follows news that the owners of Robin Hood Airport are looking for “new investment” after the base recorded a drop in passengers.

“These flights will start from July 19, 2010, and add to our already impressive offering to Poland,” commented Robin Hood Airport spokesman Chris Harcombe.

“We are continuing to work with Wizz and our other operators to develop our relationship and look at ways to offer more routes and extra flights to attract passengers to Doncaster.”

As previously reported on Cheapflights, Robin Hood Airport recently came in for criticism after managers admitted that local residents are largely unaware the gateway exists.

Peel Holdings recently said it was looking to offload its 49 per cent stake in the airport.
