In a bid to attract more business and leisure passengers, Swiss-based SkyWork Airlines has increased flights from London City Airport to Bern, flying 11 flights per week.

The new service sees twice-daily Monday to Friday services on its London City-Bern route, so Londoners can now visit the Swiss capital on a day trip. The new flight schedule means that visitors can spend eight hours in Switzerland before returning to London on an evening flight.

The new schedule also features a new Saturday morning flight to Bern and Sunday evening return trips.

“We recognised at the outset that this important route requires a minimum of two flights a day to meet the needs of both business and leisure markets and are confident the extra six weekly flights will further strengthen the route and attract more passengers,” said Tomislav Lang, SkyWork Airlines’ CEO. “SkyWork offers the fastest route to the City of Bern and the Bernese Oberland.”

SkyWork also introduced brand new services to Rome and Vienna on Monday, linking the Swiss capital to a total of ten destinations across Europe. A further four – including Amsterdam, Belgrade, Budapest and Madrid – come on line at the end of October.

British bargain hunters can find flights to Bern from £55 one way. Features of the service, which is very much geared towards business travellers, include free hold baggage allowance of 20kg, cabin baggage allowance of 8kg (or maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20cm). There’s also a free in-flight service.

Bern Airport airport operates a minimum check-in time of 30 minutes, with a fast arrival and baggage reclaim system. In 20 minutes you can be at Bern’s main railway station.
