Air passengers around the country are facing disruption today (February 8), as several airports have closed their runways and others are predicting severe delays.

Luton, Stansted, Cardiff and Bristol airports have all shut their runways down “due to adverse weather conditions” and are advising passengers with flights today to contact their airline before setting off.

The Stansted Airport website says: “Flights into and out of the airport may be subject to delay or cancellation.”

Other airports are warning of disruption too. A statement on Heathrow’s website reads: “The airport is open. However, due to the snow sweeping the country, flights into and out of the airport may be subject to delay or cancellation.”

Heavy snowfalls on the road also mean that those driving to the airport should set out earlier than usual in case of delays.

British Airways has announced that the snow has forced the cancellation of some of its services today. To check whether or not your flight is affected, check the BA arrivals and departures search.

Ryanair has cancelled flights from Luton and Stansted and has listed the flight numbers online. They include destinations around the UK and Europe.

Similarly, easyJet has cancelled many flights to and from London, Bristol and Belfast – the flight numbers are listed on the easyJet site.
