Passengers travelling through Terminal 3 at Heathrow Airport will soon be able to voluntarily register with a biometric scanning system.

Travellers willing to have their fingerprints and irises scanned, as well as their face photographed, will then enjoy being fast tracked through security controls at UK airports.

The miSense system is one of the most advanced in the world and is being tested at Heathrow in the hope that it will speed up the processing of passengers, while maintaining security.

Immigration Minister Liam Byrne, who registered with the scheme himself, said miSense would play an important role in UK security.
