Passengers buying business class tickets with United Airlines can benefit from free upgrades to first class.

For departures up until December 14, those purchasing full fare return tickets (code CR2UA) to United’s gateway cities of New York, Washington, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago will be able to travel both ways in first class.

Meanwhile, to selected non-gateway cities, those buying a full fare business class ticket will be able to upgrade to first class in one direction – either outbound or homebound.

United Airlines’ first class offers separate check-in desks at the airport, a pre-departure drinks service, a satellite phone, an amenity kit, menus with a choice of four main courses, luxury Champagne, international wines, Starbucks coffee, complimentary newspapers and an extensive entertainment system.

The airline flies from London Heathrow.
