British boy bands are breaking into the US market faster than Obama swats flies, but why are they so popular?

It’s been a good 15 years since the Backstreet Boys were back and considered the best selling boy band of all time. In 2000 the world waved bye bye bye to NSync and since then America has given us The Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber (although he’s a Canadian lad). Is it any wonder the US is looking for something else to fill the void?

The Wanted

The strapping young lads who can sing and dance have been taking the US by storm with chart topping hits and sell-out gigs.

The Wanted are in high demand and have reached the top spot with their latest hit in the Canadian iTunes chart.

Their single, Glad You Came reached number two in the US  iTunes chart – a first for any British boy band.

Since January the band have played to fans in Orlando, Washington, New York, San Diego, Los Angeles and Chicago.

One Direction

X Factor boys One Direction are only going up in the world by the looks of it as they have the highest new entry in the US singles chart since The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony.

First America, then the world for this five-piece band, as they have a number of gigs planned in Australia and New Zealand later this year.
