Can you imagine what an airline would be like if its orientation were exclusively gay? What kind of atmosphere would there be on board a passenger jet if all the flight crew and flight attendants were gay?

Well, the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation, the people behind this summer’s EuroGames in Budapest think they know.

This week they’ve proudly launched FreshAir, “the world’s very first gay airline”. In their words, the airline will fill a gap in the market left by “traditional, boring airlines” – providing passengers of all sexual orientations with a “rainbow of tastes” in “a gay atmosphere”.

What exactly might that look like? Watch the short promotional film below to find out.

We don’t know about you, but we’d sure like to see this kind of relaxed and friendly atmosphere on the next flight we take. Oh, and if 3D movies, cocktail bars and exercise machines were made available in economy class, that would be alright by us too!

Unfortunately, for now, FreshAir is but an idea. This marketing stunt has been produced to both promote this summer’s LGBT sporting jamboree in Budapest, and to challenge some of the negative politics that have been aired in Hungary in response to the games.

FreshAir’s press release is at pains to emphasise Budapest’s gay-friendly culture and underscores how the city’s vibrant clubs, baths, theatres and sporting facilities make it an excellent LGBT destination.

It’s clear that some Hungarian politicians could do with taking note of FreshAir’s motto: “We all play the same, no matter which team we belong to.”
