The magical world of Disney has no boundaries. What started as America's theme park has travelled successfully across the ocean to Paris, where EuroDisney made its debut 15 years ago. Smaller than the resorts at Florida and California, EuroDisney is nonetheless a mecca for children, combining theme park rides, hotels, restaurants, shops and the chance to meet favourite characters from the films. Disneyland Paris consists of two theme parks - the Disneyland Park, based on California's Magic Kingdom, and Walt Disney Studios, which resembles Orlando's Disney MGM Studios.

The park is a short journey from Paris's airports at Orly or Charles de Gaulle, and this perhaps is the biggest benefit of visiting the French arm of the Disney empire: flights to Disneyland Paris take just over an hour, a much more manageable journey from the UK with children than those to America.

• Space Mountain 2 is the big thrill ride so you don’t need to use your children as an excuse to go on. Big Thunder Mountain and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril are always fun even on repeat visits.
• Animagique gets you closer to the Disney art of animation, which of course is where this all started way back.
• Get close to the characters. Have your photograph taken with Minnie Mickey and all the others. Honestly, you’ll be surprised how much you love it.
