Emerald Cities: On St Patrick’s Day the world turns green

A brilliant idea from Tourism Ireland - drench the world’s most prominent landmarks in green on March 17. Let them act as a beacon to prospective visitors and a “candle in the window” for the Irish (and those of Irish descent) scattered throughout the world.

This year, the landmarks going green include the Sydney Opera House and Sky Tower in New Zealand, Niagara Falls (our featured image, above) on the American and Canadian sides, Burj al Arab in Dubai and Table Mountain in South Africa.

The Empire State Building in New York, the Leaning Tower of Pisa,  the TV Tower in Berlin, the Burg Theatre in Vienna and the Prince’s Palace in Monaco will also light up.
