Travellers heading to Colombia this year will now have the option to stay in an affordable Holiday Inn, with news that the hotel chain has opened its first property in the country.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has thrown open the doors of the Holiday Inn Bogota Airport, hoping to welcome international travellers passing through Colombia looking for a handy base close to the airport.

The new-build, eight-storey hotel comprises 191 rooms and is located just ten minutes from El Dorado airport. It also offers guests a full-service restaurant, business centre and a gym that is open 24 hours a day.

Lying in the neighbourhood of El Salitre, one of Colombia’s key business districts, a stones’ throw from downtown Bogota, the hotel will be ideal for business and leisure travellers alike.

IHG’s chief operating officer in Latin America and the Caribbean, Alvaro Diago, confirmed that the new hotel was the first of two Holiday Inn hotels that the firm planned to open in Colombia over the course of this year.

He said, “IHG has had a presence within the country for more than 50 years. Our growth in the Colombian market has been steady and we are committed to continue IHG’s multi-brand expansion in this thriving country.

“We are confident of the strength of the Holiday Inn brand and think the Holiday Inn Bogota-Airport will provide a unique guest experience, offering the convenience, dependability and atmosphere of a hotel in El Salitre,” Mr Diago went on to say.
