This week, we’re thinking about baseball – the popular American ball game that’s similar to rounders but a little more complicated. In case you hadn’t noticed, the baseball season is due to get underway in America soon, and the teams are busy preparing for the year ahead.

Before each season starts, all teams undertake spring training – a series of practice and exhibition matches that spectators can watch.

Spring training is almost as good as the season itself, with the warm weather offering the perfect day out. It’s also a great way for beginners to learn the rules of the game, so where can you see baseball spring training in action?

Florida

Home to a number of baseball teams, including the Miami Marlins, Florida is a state that really loves its ball games.

There’s no better time to visit Florida than in the spring, as the temperatures are warm but not too warm, and the sun is shining brightly.

LA Dodgers

The LA Dodgers are one of the most well-known baseball teams throughout the globe, so a trip to see them is a must for any baseball tourist.

The LA Dodgers actually hold their spring training games in Arizona, at the Camelback Ranch stadium. It may not quite be LA, but the baseball is straight out of the top drawer.

Arizona

As well as the LA Dodgers, Arizona is the location for a number of teams’ spring training. With its vast number of stadiums, the state sees teams from the surrounding area descend for the season warm-up.

The HoHoKam Stadium is used by the Chicago Cubs for their spring training, and is a great place to soak up this very American sport.
