One of our favourite places to “get to know”, ahem, the barley-based spirit is The Scotch Whisky Experience just beside Edinburgh Castle. We’re big fans of their two-hour whisky tasting – it’s got to be one the most entertaining, educational experiences we’ve ever had. If only we could remember what we were taught!

Which got us to thinking, what will “enthusiastic” whisky-tasting patrons make of their newest attraction? We suspect the sight of a 4ft 9in bottle filled with 105.3 litres of Tomintoul 14-year-old Single Malt could leaving some inebriated punters pondering, “How strong were those whiskies?”

The world’s largest bottle of single malt scotch is on loan at the Royal Mile visitor centre until April. It contains the equivalent of 150 standard bottles of whisky. That works out as 5,250 drams!
