We purchase a Business Class trip with certain expectations. We are both elderly and long haul trips are difficult without a certain level of comfort The leg with American Airlines was amazing and made the trip enjoyable from crew to seats. The leg on British Air was beyond our lowest expectation. The business class upgrade (expensive) was the same main cabin seat without anyone sitting in the middle seat, plus no charge for alcohol. Beyond that nothing. There was no entertainment on the long get 5-6 hours. Boarding early is not worth the upgrade charge and I am not an alcoholic, but in truth the alcohol might have made the discomfort more bearable. The fact that the trip had few passengers was a negation that the word is out that one haul trips on British Air is a huge mistake. The company that Kayak represents, Underpricer, is one we will never use again. We spent 4 hours at the airport on our first leg out of Charleston trying to get tickets rescheduled. Apparently the agents don't understand the 45 min rule prior to departure. Finally got the agent to understand the process and we did make it thru to Cairo. On the return, I rechecked with Kayak AND Underpricer. Both confirmed that there was no problem. Got to Cairo checkin for checking luggage and it started. Agent check luggage thru to Charleston, which she should not have done without the tickets to back it up. She did NOT tell us that we didn't have any tickets, but told us to get them at Heathrow. At Heathrow, we found we had NO tickets in their system. We were able to get Business Class to Charlotte, but not to Charleston. Lucky us we, got the seats next to the toilet. The ones no-one else wanted and not the ones we had reserved with Underpricer. Now picture two 80 year olds doing a 23 hour trip without any of the ease that we paid for in the Business Class category.
