Lanzarote Airport serves the sunny Canary Island of Lanzarote and is conveniently located in the southwest of Arrecife, the capital city.

In addition to receiving a much needed facelift during the 1990s, a section of the airport’s Gaucimeta Terminal was dedicated to serving as an aviation museum in 2002 in response to tourists’ keen interest in the island’s aviation history.

With roughly five million travellers on more than 46,000 Lanzarote flights each year, the facility is very busy, especially during the summer season. The terminals are rather small and often get busy (but seldom chaotic), especially on Thursdays when several British flights to Lanzarote Airport arrive.

Lanzarote Airport has two terminals. Terminal 1, which services international flights, comprises two levels with arrivals on the lower level and departures on the upper level. Terminal 2 caters for flights travelling between the islands surrounding Lanzarote. The terminals are within walking distance of each other.

Getting into Town

Taxi: Taxis are located Arrivals Hall. A trip to Arrecife costs around €10, while fare to Costa Teguise is about €17 and €30 to Playa Blanca. Taxi drivers are extremely proud of their vehicles; as such, they are known to carry cleaning equipment to keep their taxis in a pristine condition. Queues are often long, especially during holidays and on busy transfer days, mainly Thursdays. Book online to avoid delays.

Bus: Shuttle services do not run between Lanzarote Airport and surrounding resorts. You may catch the public bus just outside Terminal 2, which will take you to Arrecife in 15 minutes at a cost of €1. From there you can catch connecting buses to other areas on the island.
