Washington, DC’s Newseum, a leading national gallery space devoted to photojournalism, current events, and the history of broadcast news, is introducing a new exhibition that takes an uncharacteristically humorous and satirical look at television journalism: Anchorman: The Exhibit.

Catering to fans of the 2004 cult film, which starred Will Ferrell as 1970s San Diego-based broadcaster Ron Burgundy, the exhibit opens on Thursday, November 14, and will showcase a number of costumes from the film (including Burgundy’s trademark suit), original footage, and film props, – ranging from Burgundy’s jazz flute to rival anchorman Arturo Mendez’s whip.

In honour of the film’s long-awaited sequel, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which hits US cinemas on December 20, visitors to the museum will also have the chance to participate in the show’s interactive elements. Those who feel that they can step seamlessly into Burgundy’s shoes can film an Anchorman-themed news presentation (with an introduction by the character himself). The exhibition space will also host a recreation of the anchor desk at KVWN-TV, where Ron Burgundy and female anchor Veronica Corningstone (played by Christina Applegate) staged their on-air battles.
