It’s often disappointingly 2D when you see celebrities on the television or at the cinema. There really ought to be safari parks where the big names could run free, where you might see Robert Pattinson grazing on the savannah grass or Adele supping at a peaceful waterhole while Lady Gaga frolics in the mud nearby.

Reality is still unable to offer us such idylls, but here are a few places that are almost as good for a spot of “Oh, it’s him! That guy off that thing!”

The Ivy, London / Los Angeles

Both restaurants attract celebrities like flies on a horse’s face. London’s Ivy is in the heart of the city’s theatre land so there are plenty of acting luvvies clinking wine glasses to espy, while the newer LA copycat is surrounded by expensive boutiques so you’re more likely to get your general millionaire types milling about eating lavish pork pies.

Cheap Flights To London

St James, Barbados

This island is reputedly one of the stars’ favourite getaways, with hotels such as Sandy Lane, Atlantis and Fairmont Royal Pavilion all stuffed to the rafters with A-listers.

The ubiquitous Simon Cowell even has a mansion here. Typical – the second you get away from him on British telly, there he is on your luxury beach holiday.

Betty Ford Clinic, California

Just stand stealthily near the gates for an afternoon and you’re bound to see **** ***** and *** ********** at some point. If you’re lucky, ***** **** is there every month looking bleary-eyed, often in the arms of that **** ***** who always looks like he’s been dragged through chicken wire.
