You’ve got to love monkeys, the little scamps. They’re like us, but just that little bit more evolved.
Here are a few special spots around the world where you can see them arrogantly showing off just how much more in tune with nature they are.
Gibraltar
A bunch of wild barbary macaques running around wherever they please on a big old rock overlooking the bottom of Spain and the Mediterranean.
Over the years the mountain was hollowed out and used as a fort but luckily the monkeys don’t seem interested in using the cannons.
Best of all, it’s a stone’s throw from British post boxes and pubs.
St Kitt’s, Caribbean
Holidaygoers lounging on the beaches here have to keep one eye open to stop vervet monkeys stealing their drinks.
It’s not exactly what you’d call a natural habitat, but order yourself a pina colada and they’ll come running.
You won’t get that in your local zoo.
Hampi Monkey Temple, India
Perched upon a hill overlooking the breath-taking Hampi region, the exterior of this temple to the monkey-shaped warrior god Hanuman is appropriately overrun with rhesus and langur monkeys.
You probably won’t spot the little blighters conducting any religious ceremonies though, unless you consider grooming each other a pious activity.
