Calgary joined the ranks of world cities such as Toronto, New York and Paris last weekend when it staged its inaugural Nuit Blanche festival.

The highlight (no pun intended) was CLOUD by Caitlind Brown. It’s an interactive sculpture made from 5,000 burnt-out incandescent bulbs, all donated by locals between July and August.

At the Olympic Plaza last Saturday (September 15), thousands of people pulled the strings, switching on and switching off the lights and, collectively, creating the illusion of lightning on the cloud’s surface.

If you missed this year’s Nuit Blanche, don’t worry. According to reports in the Calgary Herald, the late-night arts festival is scheduled in Calgary for the next five years.

We’re thrilled to have these photographs by James Tworow (Sherlock77 (James)), Kelly Hofer and posilucky.
