Vegas (pictured, above, copyright by Moyan_Brenn) has some of the hottest nightclub parties in the world. But for those of us who aren’t celebrities or high-rollers, hitting a club can often be a frustrating experience. We’re talking about those seemingly endless minutes (hours even) spent waiting in line, just willing the egotistical masters of the velvet rope to “let people in!” We’re also talking massive cover charges. Why are they so expensive?!

We hold our hands up – if there’s a perfect strategy for getting around these two problems, we don’t know it (feel free to tweet us and comment below if you do). We do, however, know of a way of skipping queues and avoiding excessive cover charges, all with the added bonus of experiencing a number of different clubs in one night.

Club crawls (tours) are organised jaunts that take you to (generally speaking) three of the major nightclubs in Las Vegas over the course of a night. After paying a fee of anything between $45 and $80 (£28-£50) up front (it’s worth shopping around), you don’t have to wait in line at any of the clubs or pay any cover charges.

Nights start off by rendezvousing with the “host” and the other people on the crawl at a predetermined bar, where you kick things off with one or two discounted drinks (2-for-1 deals are common). Your host escorts you the whole way, making sure you cut the line at each venue and avoid cover charges.

Then you’re lead on board a giant limo-slash-party bus and ferried to three of Vegas’ top clubs. Where tours head varies a lot, but often include the likes of TAO (Venetian), Pure (Caesar’s Palace), LAX (Luxor) and Gallery (Planet Hollywood).

Limos are typically kitted out with serious sound systems, club-style leather seating and lights, plasmas and even dance poles, so the party doesn’t fizzle out between stops. Oh, and of course there are drinks on board, too.

The upsides are obvious, and like we said before, it’s a good way to scope out a few of the clubs in town in one hit. The flipside (there’s always a flipside)? You’ll be in a group of around 50 people, and of course there’s no guarantee of a great vibe at the clubs on your crawl. You pay your money, and you takes your chances.

Here are some of the hottest clubs in Las Vegas:
