Gatwick Airport is continuing its upward trajectory with news that Vietnam Airlines (www.vietnamairlines.com) has chosen it as its exclusive partner to launch direct flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Flights are scheduled to start in early December from North Terminal. There will be three classes of travel – Economy, Upper Economy and Business Class – with a full service including in-flight meals and entertainment.

Stewart Wingate, Gatwick Airport’s Chief Executive said: “These new long-haul routes are exciting news for Gatwick and for the 90,000 UK holidaymakers who travel to Vietnam each year who, this Winter for the first time, will be able to fly direct to Vietnam.”

His counterpart at Vietnam Airlines, Pham Ngoc Minh, said:“Launching the first direct route between Vietnam and the United Kingdom is a breakthrough in our European route development strategy.

“This will create favourable conditions for development and cooperation between the two countries, as well as between Vietnam and the European Community as a whole in terms of trade, investment, education and cultural exchange.

The national flag carrier of Vietnam, and member of the SkyTeam alliance, Vietnam Airlines has a domestic network of 20 cities and flies to 26 destinations in Europe, the United States, Australia and Asia.
