Fright fans could soon be looking for cheap flights to Los Angeles after Disneyland Resort California announced plans for its Hallowe’en celebrations.

From 16 September to 31 October, visitors to Disneyland California will be able to experience the full Disney Hallowe’en experience. Events planned include “Mickey’s Hallowe’en Party” as well as the transformation of Haunted Mansion into Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain into Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy.

Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy in Tomorrowland is set to begin as a typical Space Mountain adventure, before suddenly turning “spooky”. Expect to see ghosts and hear creepy sound effects and the best screams Disney can scare up.

One of the additional centrepieces of the Hallowe’en programme will undoubtedly be the Haunted Mansion. This year Jack Skellington returns to take over the Haunted Mansion and bring back Haunted Mansion Holiday to New Orleans Square in Disneyland.  The theme is inspired by Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas.

Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland is set to be transformed with the addition of more than 300 pumpkins on display – not one of them the same – for the Pumpkin Festival. Expect to see a host of Disney characters dressed as ghouls in spooky costumes to greet guests in areas such as Town Square, Main Street, too.

Other Hallowe’en-themed fun for children and adults includes The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, where Disney claims a “supernatural” event happened on Hallowe’en evening, 1939, forever haunting the building. Visitors to Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland will find ranch animals, pumpkin carvers, Hallowe’en decor and activities for youngsters.

Additionally, Mickey’s Hallowe’en Party will give visitors the opportunity to play in Disneyland for three hours before the party starts, join in a fun costume and dance party; trick or treat, as well as experience a massive firework display.

Tickets purchased in advance for Mickey’s Hallowe’en Party are $49 most days, while tickets purchased on the event days are $59.  All tickets to Mickey’s Hallowe’en Party on Friday, 28 October and Hallowe’en Night, Monday, 31 October are $64.

The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, 27 miles from Los Angeles, features two theme parks – the original Disneyland theme park, which opened in July 1955, and Disney California Adventure park – as well as a Downtown Disney District. Since opening more than 50 years ago more than 500 million people have visited the resort.
