National Geographic has teamed up with Fotopedia to launch a brand new free app which will allow armchair travellers to check out the delights of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma).

The app, called Dreams of Burma, comprises more than 1,000 incredible photos of the country, alongside slide shows, comprehensive navigation features and a trip-builder, allowing you to map out your dream holiday.

Some of the images included in the app – which can be shared with friends via in-built social networking capabilities – are of Myanmar’s best-loved temples, archaeological treasures and local people. It can be downloaded onto iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Jean Marie Hullot, CEO of Fotopedia, said, “With this new app, the iPad and iPhone become a great window into one of the most beautiful parts of the our world. We are thrilled to collaborate with National Geographic Traveler to make these visual treasures accessible to everyone.

“If you have been to Myanmar, this app will transport you back there in an instant. And if you haven’t seen it yet, you may fall in love.”
