Amsterdam attracts millions of tourists each year and it’s not hard to see the attraction. Its beautiful streets are a great place to discover an original, eccentric and inspirational lifestyle. Here are three fashion bloggers who tell us why they love their city so much.

Tell us about yourself?

My name is Brenda. I’m a 22-year-old Dutch fashion blogger living in Amsterdam. I’m a law student and I’ve had my fashion blog for about two years now.

I am Samia Taika, a French clutch bag designer living in Amsterdam.

My name is Lene Johannessen, I am a 27-year-old Norwegian girl who currently lives in Amsterdam. It’s the most wonderful city I have ever lived in. I have been blogging on MyFashionInspiration.com for over a year now, and I love all the new things I get to do (like being featured on two Dutch fashion websites as Fashion Blogger of the Week and I have also been featured in the Danish Costume Magazine) and new people I get to meet thanks to my blog.

What is fashion to you?

Brenda:I wouldn’t say I’m into fashion, I just really like clothes. What I like most is waking up, deciding how I feel and finding clothes to wear that day that perfectly match how I feel.

Samia: Everything. I couldn’t live without it. That’s the reason why I took a step forward and recently became a designer .

Lene: Fashion to me is pretty much everything. I thrive on watching inspirational pictures, people-watching in the streets of Amsterdam or just seeing fashion in a movie. I love watching 80s and 90s movies for some old school inspiration for example. Since my interest in fashion began I have always enjoyed looking a little bit different than others, and I love it even though I do get some weird looks and stares sometimes.

How does Amsterdam inspire your style?

Brenda:Amsterdam is a very multicultural and diverse city. When you walk around in the city centre or if you’re out and about at night, you will see and meet so many interesting people – you can’t help getting inspired by all of them.

Samia: I am from France. I kept the French style, which is classy and simple with a touch of craziness despite the fact that I’m here in the Netherlands.

Lene: In so many ways. All the beautiful places and colours this city has to offer is my inspiration on a daily basis, and so are the people. There are people from all over the world living in Amsterdam, and all of them bring their own style to the city which makes it different, diverse and very interesting for a fashion addict like me.

What item do you always take with you on holiday?

Brenda: In Holland the weather is always precarious and unpredictable. When I pack my bag for a holiday, no matter where I’m going, I always keep that in mind. I always bring a lot of shorts, they can be combined with simple tank tops when it’s sunny but they also work great with a big sweater when it’s a little colder than you expected.

Samia: I always take one of my clutches, it is easy to carry around and really trendy this year. Perfect for holiday!

Lene:I always bring some nice jewellery. For example a big statement necklace, some rings or just a few simple pieces. You can always make a simple outfit more interesting with some nice jewellery I think.

What is your fashion tip for holiday?

Brenda: Always bring a good pair of heels and a party dress; you never know where you might end up! And if you’re coming to Amsterdam – bring an umbrella 🙂

Samia: Bright colours definitely, summer in Amsterdam is really lovely so to be in accordance with the atmosphere dare to wear a nice bright colour!

Lene: If you are a fashionista like me and like to shop, my best tip is to pack light and pack smart. It might sound difficult (and it also is), but bring some staples like a pair of black jeans, t-shirts, a blazer and some nice shoes. Because then you have more room in your suitcase for the items you’ve wanted to get on sale. Also remember to not over think too much what the trends are, because on holiday it is important to be comfortable. And if you can pull off being comfortable with a dash of fashion, I’d say you pretty much nailed it. For instance in Amsterdam the weather might be a bit unstable these days so bring a fashionable umbrella!
