The Heathrow Express is offering broadband internet access on its 15 minute rail service from the airport to central London.

Part of the journey involves travelling along a 6km tunnel and the rail firm says it has worked alongside mobile operator T-Mobile and wireless mobile provider Nomad Digital to offer a seamless connection, even while passing underground.

Passengers will be able to buy access passes on the trains themselves, which will allow people to continue accessing the internet through T-Mobile Hotspots in coffee shops, bookstores and selected hotels once their journey is over.

Heathrow Express hopes the new service will appeal to business people who have spent a long time on an aircraft and may need to read last minute emails before meetings, or to catch up on the news and sport they missed while in the air.
