If you’re desperate for a bargain break, check out easyJet’s new flight from London Gatwick to Izmir on Turkey’s beautiful Aegean coast. The budget airline has kicked off the new route to one of Turkey’s popular summer holiday destinations thanks to passenger demand.

The new flights will depart London twice a week, on Saturdays and Tuesdays, with tickets costing from £44.99 one way. Izmir will be easyJet’s fifth Turkish destination – it already carries hoards of holidaymakers to Istanbul, Antalya, Bodrum and Dalaman.

easyJet’s UK director, Paul Simmons, said, “Turkey is a popular holiday destination for year-round sun-seekers.

“By adding Izmir to our ever-expanding network of routes, we’re making it even more accessible to passengers. As one of the most popular tourist cities in the country, it is a perfect holiday choice,” he added.

The airline also confirmed that it is soon to expand its offerings from Gatwick even further. Currently, it flies to 92 destinations from the London hub, and is soon to launch flights to Verona and Catania in Italy and to Aberdeen in Scotland.
