Monarch Airlines has announced that it is expanding its flight schedule from Birmingham and East Midlands airports.

The new programme from summer 2012 will also include two new flights to Nice and Barcelona from Birmingham Airport.

The additional flight service from Birmingham Airport will start from 20 July and include one additional weekly flight to Ibiza (on Wednesdays), Tenerife (on Saturdays) and Dalaman in Turkey (on Fridays).

Passengers travelling to Faro and Rome will also benefit from two additional weekly flights. Those holidaymakers heading to sunny Spain for their dose of sun, sea and sangria will also be able to choose from more departure dates.

These include four additional weekly flights to Malaga and Barcelona, as well three additional weekly flights to Majorca and Alicante.

Daily services to Malaga, Alicante, Faro and Palma will start at East Midlands Airport on 31 August.

The new schedule comes after Monarch Airlines confirmed that it will be taking over some flights, to Portugal and Spain from East Midlands Airport, from bmibaby. The struggling airline will be grounded this September.
