The airline will base a new aircraft at Leeds Bradford Airport next winter, and will launch flights to Arrecife, Faro, Larnaca and Tenerife this summer.

Flights from the airport to both Grenoble and Munich will continue next winter after launching at the end of 2012.

“The additional flying across the Monarch network for winter 2013/14 reflects the strength of the bookings we are already seeing for our summer 2013 routes,” said Kevin George, managing director of Monarch.

“We are delighted to announce that we will have an aircraft permanently based at Leeds Bradford Airport for the next winter season.”

A new route from Luton Airport to the popular Egyptian destination of Sharm el Sheikh is now on sale. Starting on November 7, the route will operate three times a week.

“We will be operating six routes to both sun and ski destinations from Leeds Bradford, as well as a new route from London Luton to Sharm el Sheikh,” added Mr George.

“We expect to see great demand for all our new routes and we are sure that our existing winter destinations will continue to flourish.”

Monarch’s programme for next winter includes sun and ski destinations across Europe, including Greece, Italy, Spain, Turkey and Portugal.

Ski destinations that were launched this winter will also feature, including Friedrichshafen and Munich, in Germany, and Innsbruck in Austria.

Monarch’s expansion plans for next winter follow a hugely success Christmas period for the airline, which saw it add thousands of additional seats to cope with demand.

“We have been delighted by the increased demand for seats on our flights during Christmas and New Year and we are very pleased to be able to respond by offering our customers more seats which, as always, are excellent value for money,” said Mr George.
