Iceland Express will strengthen its schedule in 2011, adding Edinburgh, Belfast and Dublin to its route network, and offering connections to New York, Chicago and Boston to travellers in those areas.

Matthias Imsland, chief executive of Iceland Express, told the Belfast Telegraph that passenger numbers are growing on the Belfast-Iceland route.

“We have witnessed increasing numbers of Irish travellers to Reykjavik throughout 2010 and we are pleased to make life a little easier for those passengers by offering a direct route.

“No other airline offers direct flights between these destinations and Reykjavik, so we are delighted to fill this gap.”

The Dublin-Reykjavik service will be seasonal, starting on 10 June and ending on 29 August.
