The Caribbean, the US and Mauritius are becoming increasingly popular for those wishing to tie the knot in a dream location.

According to Mark Bell of travel firm White Sand Weddings: “There are now many more charter airlines and scheduled airlines flying into the Caribbean, such as XL Airways – some of which are from regional airports which has certainly boosted these locations.”

“And with the introduction of Virgin Atlantic introducing flights to Mauritius this has again increased capacity.”

He said that, until a few years ago, there were only a few flights per week to Mauritius with Air Mauritius and BA. Now, however, there are 13 direct flights, as well as indirect options via Paris and Dubai.

Bell also pointed to the fact that some resorts offer discounts for wedding parties.

“Many resorts now offer ‘free’ weddings, particularly the Caribbean,” he said. “The USA is a very popular location for our clients – notably New York, Orlando and Las Vegas.

“At present it represents excellent value due to the exchange rate with low airfares available through much of year.”

British Airways is one airline that has picked up on the popularity of overseas nuptials, offering advice and information on a dedicated webpage.
