Drivers heading to Gatwick Airport are being advised to allow more time for their journey as resurfacing work begins on the M25 near junction seven.

The work begins on July 30 and is expected to last a month, and whilst the resurfacing will take place overnight people heading to the airport are being warned of road closures and diversions.

The Highways Agency is carrying out the work and has said the new surface will be quieter and smoother.

Tim Lyver, project manager at the Agency, said: “We are working overnight, between 10.30pm and 5.30am to keep disruption to a minimum for road users.

“We advise any members of the public heading to Gatwick overnight during August to allow extra time for their journey as there will be closures of some slip roads and on the main carriageway and M23 link road.”
