London Stansted Airport has become the gateway of choice for US President Barack Obama and his diplomatic entourage, Business Weekly reports.

In letters sent to Stansted’s operators, White House officials have pledged a long-term commitment to the airport for commercial operations in the UK.

Their glowing endorsement comes just two months after President Obama flew into Stansted aboard Air Force One, ahead of the G20 meeting in London.

Airport security chiefs received just four weeks’ notice to prepare for the president’s visit.

But Obama administration officials were reportedly so impressed with the efficiency of the operation that they sent a flurry of letters from Capitol Hill, vowing to make Stansted the “preferred commercial airport in the UK”.
