Stefan Schwinghammer, the online editor of Monster Skateboard Magazine highlights the best skateparks in Germany for Cheapflights’ blog:

Cologne

A few weeks ago there was the final session on the world-famous Domplatte, which was maybe the best spot in Germany, but if there were tears in the eyes of Cologne’s skateboarders they dried quickly, because one day later Kap 686 Skateplaza opened. Close to the Rhine River, there are plenty of kerbs and smooth ground – perfect for endless lines. In the following clip you can see how much fun the EMillion Team had at the plaza.

In Germany you can find the long-established North Brigade, a perfect park for skateboarders as well as bmx riders, which recently got an all-new bowl area.

Munster

Although not really big, Munster played an important role in German and worldwide skateboarding, mainly because of Titus Dittmann. He was the founder of the Titus Company and Monster Skateboard Magazine and he established the Münster Monster Mastership where, traditionally, one day before the big contest there was a session at the Berg Fidel Bowl. This concrete bowl has seen a lot of history and last year got a complete makeover. Now the surface is as smooth as a baby’s skin and there are a few extensions, which make the bowl a must for transition shredders.

Frankfurt

Mainhattan, the capital of money in Germany, is famous for its skyline, but not for a remarkable skatepark. That’s why the locals helped themselves and built, with a lot of creativity, a place of their own. It’s called the Ghettospot, but it’s not really dangerous there. On the contrary, there are a few rules that should be followed by visitors so that the spot does not upset the neighbours.

Berlin

For sure, Berlin is the best city in Germany for young and creative people, so it’s not surprising that a lot of skateboarders live here and skate teams from all over the world visit the famous spots such as the Warschauer Banke, Philharmonie or Kulturforum. But if you are searching for a skatepark, you should definitely come to the Skatehalle Berlin with its outside bowl construction, called Betonhausen or the Betonhausen 2, built by the same DIY crew at the Mellowpark.

Stuttgart

The home of Mercedes Benz is known for quality and so there are a few very good skateparks in the area, like in Ostfildern, a few kilometres outside Stuttgart and the Pattonville skateparks in the suburbs. The most famous one is the skatepark at the Pragfriedhof. There you’ve got everything that Streetskaters desire and a perfectly shaped bowl with cradle, for the transition skaters.
