George Osborne announced the budget for the UK yesterday, with some measures greeted with more enthusiasm than others.

Things like the higher tax allowance and the increase in the cut-off limit for child benefit will help millions of families, but the Chancellor has been accused of a raid on pensions to pay for a tax cut for the rich and more than four million pensioners are set lose around £84 a year.

The aviation industry was also hit hard, with no reprieve from the 8 per cent increase in Air Passenger Duty that is due to come in on 1 April.

The decisions affect everyone differently, but there are still places where our money can go a long way. So what are the destinations to spin out your holiday budget?

 India

A popular destination for tourists from around the world, India still offers low prices on everything from hotels to guided tours.

The list of places to visit and things to see in India is endless, as this vast country has something for everyone. Flights can be pricey, but you’ll make your money back once you’re there.

Thailand

Thailand may be known for attracting thousands of Gap Year students every year, but there’s more to this beautiful country than just drinking and Full Moon parties.

Again, a long-haul flight is not going to come cheap, however, luxury accommodation is a fraction of the price of Europe and the stunning beaches are an extra incentive.

Bulgaria

You don’t have to jet off half way around the world to find low holiday prices. Many countries in Eastern Europe still offer good deals on a holiday.

It’s not all Soviet architecture and former communist statues either. Countries like Bulgaria offer good weather and decent beaches for a price that beats Spain and France hands down.
