Hisaronu flights and travel guide

Hisaronu is on Turkey's west Mediterranean coast, near Fethiye and Olu Deniz. It sits in the hills above the most famous beach in Turkey, the Blue Lagoon at Olu Deniz. The beach is easily accessible either by walk through the forest or by a ten-minute drive in a Dolmus (shared bus).

Hisaronu translates as "Front of the Castle", the ruins of which are nearby.

Each year, increasing numbers of British tourists seek flights to Hisaronu to take in the fantastic weather, beautiful beach and this part of Turkey's mix of forest, mountains and ancient ruins.

Hisaronu has a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops and enough local amenities such as supermarket, post office, cash machines and local market to keep holidaymakers in the vicinity.

Hisaronu Insider Information

• The nightlife here goes on till the early hours as the place has been developed for tourists. You can buy everything from fake designer wear, to leather and carpets, but get ready to practice your haggling skills. It is part of the sale.
• Canoe down the Xanthos river to Patara, or walk or play paintball in the nearby forests. Hisaronu is at a high altitude so it is cooler and less humid than on the beach.
• Take a dolmus – a minibus taxi. They are reliable and good value. To avoid being overcharged check what the locals are paying.
