High season in the state of Montana is during the summer months of June till August, as this is the best time to enjoy the wonderful outdoor activities for which this part of the US is famous. Travelling during the hot summer months is likely to be more expensive than off peak seasons, though. Beat the crowds by visiting a little earlier than other people, in May or June, though, and you can take advantage of cheaper travel and still experience some beautiful sunshine. Winters in this region tend to be snowy, but visit during the Christmas period to soak up the festive mood.

Fort Missoula Museum will delight all enthusiasts of history, and military history in particular, as it will tell you all about the city’s role as one of the earliest military outposts in the US. In the evening, why not catch a play or a concert in the Wilma Theatre, or check out some of the great bars and restaurants on offer in the town centre?
