Travellers jetting off from Bristol International Airport are being warned not to drink too much before boarding their flights.

As part of a Know Your Limits campaign signs are being placed around the airport’s bars and check-in areas to warn passengers that unacceptable behaviour due to drinking too much alcohol won’t be accepted.

Airport police have warned that people who cause trouble run the risk of being stopped from boarding their flight or even face being arrested.

PC Andy Bibbings, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: “We want passengers to enjoy their time at Bristol Airport and enjoy the new facilities in the departure lounge. But we would remind passengers that they are also responsible for their own behaviour, and the impact such behaviour has on other people.

“If passengers consume too much alcohol in the airport, to the extent that they act drunkenly, abusively, or threateningly, then they will not be allowed to fly, and the airport police will deal with them robustly and appropriately.”

Alison Roberts, of Bristol Airport, said it was hoped that the Know Your Limits campaign would see people enjoying themselves as they set off on holiday by discouraging anti-social behaviour and create a welcoming environment in the terminal.
