This summer is shaping up to be a fantastic season of sport, with all manner of events taking place throughout the summer months.

Euro 2012 is already well underway, with the eyes of the nation on the England team as they battle against the heat in Poland and Ukraine.

But football isn’t the only sport you could enjoy this summer, not by a long shot. So what other major events of this Season can we look forward to?

Royal Ascot

Royal Ascot is bringing a touch of class to this summer of sport. With high fashion and high stakes, Royal Ascot is one of the biggest dates in the racing calendar.

The Queen, a huge fan of horse racing, attends the event each year without fail. But Royal Ascot is almost as much about the fashion on display in the grandstand as it is about the racing.

Wimbledon

A quintessentially British sporting event, Wimbledon kicks off at the start of next week. The most famous tennis tournament in the world, Wimbledon is a favourite among fans and players alike.

In true British fashion, rain is almost guaranteed at some point in the tournament. But like strawberries and cream, Wimbledon just wouldn’t be the same without a downpour or two.

Henley Royal Regatta

Another rather English event taking place in a couple of weeks is the Henley Royal Regatta, the rowing event held in Henley-on-Thames each year.

Taking place over five days at the start of July, the Henley Regatta features head-to-head races in a knock-out tournament. The event is an international affair, attracting race crews from around the world.
