Further snowfall in parts of England, Scotland and Wales has again disrupted travel from a number of the UK’s airports.

Last night (February 4) saw 20 centimetres of snow cover parts of the country, which has led to the temporary closure of runways at Birmingham International Airport, London Luton Airport, Cardiff Airport and East Midlands Airport.

However, passengers travelling from these airports today (February 5) have been advised to check-in as normal, because the runways are expected to be reopened as soon as they are clear of snow.

A spokeswoman for Birmingham Airport told Reuters: “It was like painting the Forth Bridge – as soon as you cleared the runway or the tarmac it was still coming down.”

Forecasters have suggested that there will be a mixture of rain, sleet and snow across the country tomorrow, before letting up on Saturday.
