Visitors to California’s stunning Yosemite National Park can nab a “gas gift card” to take the sting out of filling up the car.

Throughout May, several hotels within Yosemite and Madera County – the gateway to the park – are offering discounts on petrol to their guests. The Redwoods Hotel is offering a $50 (£30) giftcard to all guests staying throughout May, while The Madera Valley Inn has a $25 (£15) card on offer for all guests who stay at least three nights.

The Yosemite Sierra View Bed and Breakfast in Oakhurst and the Sierra Mountain Lodge B&B in Ahwahnee are both offering guests a $10 (£6) gas card with any two-night visit.

Jarrod Lyman of the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau said: “By saving money on gas, guests can see more of the waterfalls in Yosemite, take a train ride aboard the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, enjoy Bass Lake, tour the Madera Wine Trail or explore the Fossil Discovery Center in Chowchilla.”
