A door-to-door service for passengers using Edinburgh Airport has been launched by local operator Lothian Buses.

The new service, called the Edinburgh Shuttle, will feature small, seven seater buses that will ferry people between the airport, the city centre and the surrounding areas.

The Scotsman reports that the service will officially begin on December 11, although taxi drivers believe it will make their job more difficult and could force drivers out of business.

Passengers will be able to book a ride in advance or just walk up to the buses at the airport, and even have the option of hailing one in the street.

The service will operate seven days a week and run every 15 minutes during the busiest times of the day, with a 20 to 30 minute service time in the early morning and evening.
