Getting around Atlantic City
When you land in Atlantic City, either take a taxi downtown or get a ride on the TransIT Link. The city is so small that you won’t really need transportation to get around. For a fun blast from the past, try taking an old-fashioned rolling chair down the boardwalk. You can also get to Atlantic City from another major city, like New York City or Philadelphia, on Greyhound and Capitol Trailways buses.
Atlantic City airport overview
Atlantic City International is the gateway to Atlantic City, the New Jersey destination famous for flashy casinos, fine shopping and decadent dining. Flights to Atlantic City Airport connect to the Atlantic City and Southern New Jersey shore region and a host of local and international destinations. More than 50 airlines currently fly to and from Atlantic City International, and that number is set to increase.
The airport, which benefitted from a $40 million terminal and taxiway expansion project in 2005, prides itself on its efficiency. According to the airport’s website, Atlantic City International offers the shortest wait time of any airport in the region. In fact, the average processing time to departing gate is a mere 11 minutes – for anyone who’s stood in endless lines waiting to go through security, this will come as good news.
The airport is much smaller than New York or Philadelphia (visitors joke that you can see from one end to the other) so if you’re looking forward to perusing the shops and restaurants for hours you will be disappointed, but staff are attentive, efficient and professional, and make the security process a breeze. Atlantic City International is located in Egg Harbor Township, a 20-minute drive from Atlantic City. The airport is easily accessible from major roadways.
