The resort of Nerja, at the east end of the Costa Del Sol, is the perfect summerholiday destination for those who don’t want long journeys. Flights to Nerja arrive at Malaga Airport, from where the transfer is minimal. Once you’ve completed the short journey, Nerjaoffers sun, sand and all major water sports including water-skiing and sailing. The attractive beach has real white powdery sand and small coves to explore if you want to get further away the crowd.
But travellers book flights to Nerja for its stunning scenery as well as its beach life. The old town is still a mass of cobbled winding streets with many bars and cafes and there are no concrete skyscrapers in sight. Instead, it is surrounded by magnificent mountains to the east. There is a spectacular palm-lined walk through the heart of the town from the cliffs down to the beach.
