Air passengers planning on travelling through London Luton Airport are being advised to allow extra time for their car journey to the gateway.

Motorists attempting to join Gypsy Lane from Airport Way will now find a diversion in place due to roadworks.

With the reduced access, the Gypsy Lane roundabout will no longer connect to the retail park or Lower Harpenden Road – resulting in greater congestion at the airport junction.

People wishing to access the facility must now do so via Kimpton Road, which is already under pressure due to the high number of people using the airport.

Speaking to Bedford Today, a spokesman for Luton Borough Council apologised for any inconvenience but insisted the diversion route would be fully signposted.

In July, Luton Airport saw a significant five per cent rise in footfall when compared with the same month last year.
