The check-in desks close 30 minutes before departure. Recommended check-in is 90 minutes before the flight leaves. Web check-in is available for passengers travelling with hand luggage from some German airports including Cologne/Bonn, Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart.
Hand luggage: must not exceed 8kg and maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20cm. A laptop, camea, jacket, umbrella or duty-free items are also carried free of charge.
Checked: Germanwings charges for checking-in luggage - £4 per piece if registered online or via the call centre. The charge at the airport is £8 per piece. The maximum weight is 23kg. individual pieces of luggage must not be heavier than 32kg.
Excess: there is a charge of £6 per kg, but, space allowing, baggage up to 50kg will be carried.
Seats are allocated at check-in on a first come first served basis.
The date of travel can be changed up to two hours before flying time at a charge of £23 and any price difference for the new flight. If the new flight is sold at a lower cost no refunds can be made. There is a name change fee of £27 per person and booking plus any difference in the fare. Cancellations are not allowed.
