Departure was late. Plane much too small for an 11 hour flight. One bathroom was out of order in a completely full flight.

Set amid lush hills and valleys, and majestic mountains too, Missoula also has a wealth of cultural attractions for visitors to explore. Keen hikers and mountain bikers will love the Rattlesnake National Recreation Area, which has plenty of hiking and biking trails to keep you busy in some gorgeous scenery. Visit the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to learn about the natural and cultural history of this famous antlered resident of the Montana area: this child-friendly museum is a great place to spend an afternoon. The Missoula Art Museum is filled with beautiful art works both old and new, and you can top your day off with a picnic by the babbling waters in Caras Park. If you are seeking more things to do with a young family, then be sure to head down to the Carousel, and to the Dragon Hollow Play Area. Fort Missoula Museum will delight all enthusiasts of history, and military history in particular, as it will tell you all about the city’s role as one of the earliest military outposts in the US. In the evening, why not catch a play or a concert in the Wilma Theatre, or check out some of the great bars and restaurants on offer in the town centre?
Taxis, buses, and special tour coaches are all available in Missoula to take you to the key attractions that you want to visit. Greyhound buses are also plentiful here, and will enable you to make longer distance journeys to other cities, or to natural attractions out of the centre of the city. Hire a mountain bike to do some off road exploring, or a car to give you the independence that you need to see the sights in your own time.
Missoula International airport (MSO) is located just a quarter of an hour’s drive from Missoula city centre. Airport shuttles, taxis, and public transport organised by the company Mountain Line are all available to take you from the airport to your hotel in the centre. You can also arrange to hire a car at the airport, or book your hired vehicle online before you leave for Missoula and pick it up when your flight touches down.
