Located in the Zhejiang province in the east of China, Ningbo is one of the most popular destinations in the country for overseas tourists. The city enjoys a prime location on the East China Sea coast and is close to the mountain ranges of Siming and Tiantai. These mountain ranges offer some truly breath-taking scenic vistas and the people who live in the villages which lie in the foothills are always friendly and welcoming. The ancient temples of Baoguo and Ayuwang are a short journey away from the city centre and offer wonderfully peaceful retreats from the hustle and bustle of the central area of Ningbo.
Buses are fairly inexpensive in Ningbo and you can choose to pay extra for vehicles with air conditioning. Be aware that if you travel by bus you need to know the route as the stops are not announced in English. Ningbo also has a metro system in operation which connects various areas of the city.
Getting from the Airport to the City
The city is served by Ningbo Lishe Airport (NGB), which lies approximately 7 miles (11 km) from the centre of Ningbo. A shuttle bus service runs between the airport and the city on an hourly basis and takes roughly 20 minutes to complete its journey. There is also a large selection of taxis available at the airport terminal. Car hire is also an option, with rental firms located in the main hall.
