When is the best time to fly to Corpus Christi?
Corpus Christi boasts a delightful humid subtropical climate with over 250 days of sunshine per year and an average temperature of 22 degrees. Although in July and August the city does become very warm, its Gulf Coast location provides cooling ocean breezes that help it to avoid the soaring temperatures common in the Texas interior. Accommodation does become more expensive during these warmer months, especially as they coincide with the U.S schools summer holidays, but with balmy temperatures even in January, Corpus Christi can be enjoyed at any time of the year. The Buccaneer Days festival in April and May celebrates the city's colourful early history and provides plenty of fun things to do for all the family. The Corpus Christi Festival of the Arts takes place each March and provides a wonderfully diverse range of entertainment.
The coastal city of Corpus Christi is situated in South Texas and is renowned as a prime holiday destination. It offers fine beaches and is a popular location for kite boarding, windsurfing and sailing. Some of the most visited attractions for both tourists and residents can be found in the attractive North Beach area. The World War II aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Lexington is a floating museum that gives a fascinating look at what it must have been like to live and serve aboard this ocean-going titan. There is a flight simulator and a 3D Mega Theatre on board. Nearby is the museum district. Here can be found the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, where you can discover an authentic reproduction of Christopher Columbus' ship, the Pinta, plus the oldest shipwreck ever found in the Gulf of Mexico and a host of artefacts from world famous shipwrecks. The Art Museum of South Texas features an impressive collection of the works of local and national artists. An evening of entertainment at the Harbor Playhouse Theatre is highly recommended. Surf culture and the history of the sport are explored at the Texas Surf Museum. A delightful day out for the entire family is provided by a visit to the Texas State Aquarium, where you can watch diving shows, feeding time demonstrations and enjoy a hands on experience with stingrays and sharks. The 180 acres of the Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens and Nature Centre is a delightful place to spend a relaxing afternoon amidst an array of stunning flora.
