When is the best time to fly to Kavala?
Kavala is a fantastic summer holiday destination, thanks to its humid climate and fabulous blue flag beaches. A flight to Kavala is best taken in the summer season, between June and August, when temperatures reach an average of about 26°C, however it’s not uncommon for them to soar to a hot 29°C. Humidity can be very high at this time of year, so if you prefer to spend your time away from the beach, consider holidaying in Kavala in June or September, when temperatures are slightly cooler but days are still warm and sunny. Temperatures during these months can still reach the mid-teens to low 20’s making it the perfect time to visit for a holiday packed with sightseeing and wandering around the picturesque town.

Nestled on the slopes of Mount Symvolo, the city of Kavala in northern Greece is a picturesque port with an incredible history. Dating as far back as the 7th Century BC, Kavala was once called Neapolis, a colony founded by the Thassians. Modern Kavala offers a stunning array of historic sites and museums to explore, with treasures that date back to the city's Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods. The Old Town of Kavala is best explored on foot and there is even a tourist train that runs from the central square. Amongst the main historical sites, you will find Kavala Castle located on a hill, which dates back to 1425. The castle offers stunning views over the city.
