Turkish Airlines will start a new daily service between Gatwick Airport and Istanbul, the London airport announced today.
The daily route will fly from the newly renovated North Terminal at Gatwick, and starts on 20 December. It will be the first time that Turkish Airlines have flown to Gatwick.
“We are pleased that Turkish Airlines has chosen to operate a daily service to Istanbul from Gatwick this winter. Passengers will not only be able to enjoy the rich history of this magical city but also connect onto Turkish Airlines’ extensive global network and visit countries in the Middle and Far East,” said Guy Stephenson, Gatwick Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer.
“We are competing with other airports in London and the South East in order to give passengers the greatest choice of destinations to fly to. We already offer a choice of over 200 destinations, which is more than any other airport in the UK.”
Turkish Airlines flies to 146 destinations worldwide, as well as 41 destinations within Turkey. The addition of this service means the airline now operates out of five UK airports, and has increased its flights to London from 30 per week to 37.
“We are very happy to start flying from London Gatwick to more than 190 destinations around the world from 20 December. This year, Turkish Airlines was awarded the Best Airline in Europe by Skytrax. Following on from this prestigious title we are proud to announce our exciting new link with Gatwick Airport,” said Faruk Cizmecioglu, Chief Marketing Officer of Turkish Airlines.
“Our priority is the comfort of our passengers. We have the best in-flight Economy Class meals, for which Turkish Airlines has also won an award, ensuring our passengers a relaxing long haul journey to destinations such as Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Johannesburg, Cape Town and beyond.”
